Terms of Service
Welcome to InterChat, a place for Christians to connect, pray and grow together. These Terms are the agreement between you and InterChat ("InterChat", "we", "us") for using the InterChat apps, website and related services (the "Service"). Please read them, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, which are part of these Terms.
In short - You must be 13 or older to use InterChat. - Be kind, honest and safe. Follow the Community Guidelines. - You own what you post. You give us permission to host and show it so the Service works. - InterChat Plus renews automatically until you cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings. - We can remove content or accounts that break these Terms.
By creating an account or using InterChat, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Who can use InterChat
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under the age of majority where you live (for example, 18), you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
- You must give accurate information when you sign up, including your date of birth, and keep it up to date.
- You can't use InterChat if we've previously banned you, or if the law prohibits you from using it.
- InterChat welcomes everyone, including people exploring Christianity, as long as they respect the community and its guidelines.
2. Your account
- You're responsible for your account and for everything done with it. Keep your password safe, and don't share your account.
- One person, one account. Don't create accounts in someone else's name or pretend to be someone you're not, including a pastor, church or ministry.
- If you think someone has accessed your account, change your password, sign out of other devices (Settings → Where you're signed in), and tell us at support@interchathq.com.
- Your username must not be offensive, misleading or infringe someone else's rights. We may reclaim usernames that do.
3. Using InterChat the right way
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines and not to:
- break the law, or help anyone else do so;
- harass, threaten, bully, exploit or endanger anyone, especially children;
- post content that is sexual, hateful, violent, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- scam, defraud or ask people for money under false pretences, including fake "prayer fees", fake ministries, or investment schemes;
- send spam, bulk or automated messages, or create fake accounts;
- record, screenshot and share Prayer Rooms or private conversations to shame, expose or harm others;
- interfere with or try to break the Service, including by reverse engineering it, scraping it, bypassing security or limits, or uploading malware;
- use InterChat to build a competing service or to collect other users' information.
4. Your content
You own it. Messages, photos, videos, voice notes, prayers, stories and anything else you post ("Your Content") belong to you.
Your permission to us. So InterChat can work, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit, display and adapt Your Content (for example, resizing a photo), only to run, protect and improve the Service and as described in our Privacy Policy. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, except for content you've shared with others that they still have, and copies we must keep for legal or safety reasons.
Your responsibility. You confirm you have the right to share Your Content, and that it doesn't break these Terms or anyone's rights. Be careful with personal details about other people, including in prayer requests.
Content from others. Content on InterChat is the responsibility of the person who posted it. We don't endorse it, and we're not responsible for it, but we act on reports. See section 7.
5. Communities and leaders
- Anyone can create a community. The people who create and run a community ("owners", "admins" and "moderators") are responsible for setting its rules, keeping it welcoming, and acting on problems in it.
- Community rules can be stricter than ours but can't allow anything our Community Guidelines forbid.
- Admins can add or remove members, choose who can post, pin messages, and manage Prayer Rooms. Please use these tools fairly.
- Communities marked Official are run by InterChat.
- Churches and ministries using InterChat are responsible for their own teaching, events and any personal information they collect from members outside InterChat.
6. Prayer Rooms and calls
- Prayer Rooms are live voice gatherings in communities. They are not recorded by InterChat, and you must not record them without the agreement of everyone present.
- Hosts and co-hosts can mute people, manage turns, remove people from the room and end it.
- Calls need a working internet connection and may use mobile data. InterChat isn't a replacement for a phone service and can't be used to call emergency services.
7. Safety, reports and enforcement
- You can report people, messages, communities, stories, prayer requests and comments from within the app. We review reports and may hide content while we do.
- If you or your content break these Terms or the Guidelines, we may remove content, limit features, suspend or permanently ban accounts, and, where required, report to the authorities. We try to act fairly and in proportion, but we may act immediately when someone's safety is at risk.
- If you think we've made a mistake, you can appeal by emailing safety@interchathq.com within 30 days. Tell us your username and what happened.
8. InterChat Plus (subscriptions)
- InterChat is free to use. InterChat Plus is an optional paid subscription with extra features, described in the app at the time you subscribe.
- Payment: handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play, under their terms. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency, including any applicable taxes.
- Automatic renewal: Plus renews automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancelling: cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings (Settings → InterChat Plus → Manage subscription in the app takes you there). Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel the subscription by itself. You keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds: refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Where the law gives you a right to a refund, nothing in these Terms limits it.
- Price changes: we'll tell you before a price change applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.
- Restoring: use "Restore purchases" in the app if you change phones.
9. Bible and faith content
- Bible translations, audio Bibles, devotionals, sermons, podcasts, worship music and other content in InterChat may be owned by their publishers and licensed to us. You may read, listen and share them inside InterChat, but you may not copy, download (beyond the app's offline features) or redistribute them except as the publisher allows.
- Some translations can't be saved for offline reading because of their licence.
- Devotional and teaching content, prayers and conversations on InterChat are for spiritual encouragement. They are not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you or someone else is in danger or crisis, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional straight away.
10. Our rights in InterChat
InterChat, its name, logo, design, software and content we create are owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. These Terms give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the apps for their intended purpose. Nothing else is transferred to you. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without obligation to you.
11. Third-party services
InterChat works with services from other companies, such as Apple, Google, Facebook (for sign-in), Twilio (for calls) and link previews of websites you share. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of their services. We're not responsible for third-party websites or services linked from InterChat.
12. Changes to the Service and these Terms
- We're always improving InterChat, so features may change, and some may be added or removed. Some features can be switched on or off for maintenance or rollout.
- We may update these Terms. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using InterChat after that, you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
13. Ending your use of InterChat
- You can stop using InterChat and delete your account anytime: in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or at interchathq.com/delete__user.html.
- We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if continuing would create risk or legal exposure for us or others. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why and let you download your information first.
- Sections 4 (the parts about content shared with others), 9, 10, 14, 15, 16 and 17 continue after your account ends.
14. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep InterChat safe, available and accurate, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that content on it is accurate. We don't control what users post and aren't responsible for their conduct, online or offline. Be careful when meeting people you know only from InterChat, and never send money to people you haven't verified.
15. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, InterChat and its directors, staff and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for InterChat Plus in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or your rights as a consumer under the laws of your country.
16. Indemnity
If you break these Terms or the law, or your content infringes someone's rights, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Before going to court, please contact us at support@interchathq.com so we can try to resolve the issue informally within 30 days. If we can't, disputes will be handled by the courts of Nigeria, unless the law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
18. General
- If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a part of these Terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
